LAST UPDATED JULY 1, 2009

(See the INFORMATION and DOWNLOAD pages after logging in to LAPWARE )

On June 27, 2009 the NMC updated their DECK database.  We have already finished reviewing the data and have posted an Excel spread sheet with the new questions.  We have already deleted those questions so indicated by the NMC release.  We will apply the NEW and MODIFIED changes as soon as possible to the LAPWARE program.  ALL new solutions have already been solved and are ready to be posted with the questions after they are categorized.

The public should NOT see these questions according to Coast Guard - NMC policy until 30 days after release or around July 27.

Effective July 1, 2009 the cost of LAPWARE was increased.  The first month purchase will be $125.  An additional month of usage will be $75.  As as has been the practice in the past, months may be skipped between initial purchase and your next 30 days of purchase, up to 12 months.  If you are using LAPWARE continuously, for more than 12 months, you will be notified of other options we have for you.

If you purchased your original yearly license prior to July 1, 2009 you will be charged $75 for the next months usage when you purchase it.

In 2002, we promised NOT to make price changes to LAPWARE until all solutions were posted.  This was accomplished four months ago.  We have also gone well beyond this by starting to post Chart Plot solutions.  See the INFORMATION menu option after logging in for Chart Plots that have been solved and posted.

It is our intent to make additional major changes and improvements to LAPWARE.  As these changes are made they will be posted for you to view and use.  We do thank all of you who have spread the word about how powerful a training and study tool LAPWARE is for license preparation.

NMC has released a MAY 2009 Deck Guide Book.  See link(s) below.

We would like to inform you that Microsoft has launched its latest version of Internet Explorer 8.0. This product is fresh out of Beta testing and still has some bugs and software compatibility issues needing to be fixed before we recommend installing. To avoid any problems if this update comes through as a Windows update please decline to install at this time.  If you did install IE 8.0 it is recommended that you UNINSTALL it and download IE 7.0 and re-install that, at least for now.

LAPWARE is the most advanced U.S.C.G. license exam preparation tool on the market.  We hope you enjoy using this program to study for any level Coast Guard license exam.

LAPWARE was designed to work on a PC and MUST use Internet Explorer as its browser!  The NEW Mac Book Pro running Safari and LAPWARE works very well on this Apple computer.  However, the capability to MAXIMIZE the Review Question screen does not exist on the MAC and the monitor resolution must be modified to view this on the full screen.  Also, a MAC Parallels 4 program allows one to install a Virtual Machine running under the MAC emulating WIndows XP or any other operating system.  This does seem to work as well.

When studying for your license please reference the links below for NMC information as well as for you to determine the exact DECK EXAM CODE for the license exam you will be sitting for and the exam test template modules you must be tested on.

Note, the NMC updates the Deck Guide Book as needed and the above link is a direct link to the book.  To check if a NEWER version is available please use the link below to the NMC website and click on "Deck Exam Guide & Additional Resources" to verify that you have access to the latest version.

To figure out which of the test modules or exam codes you will be required to take for your license exam, please refer to the below link to the NMC Deck Guide Book in PDF format.  Please review the abbreviations at the BOTTOM of this page.  PLEASE confirm with the Coast Guard at the time of approval which exam code and test templates you wil be required to take.
