On June 17, 2022, LAPWARE DECK will be as updated to contain a NEWER DATABASE OF EXAM QUESTIONS. We will be renaming the URL www.Lapware.org and relacing it with updated information not only in format, but questions new, modified, improved reference material, corrections to illustrations and updated solutions. As of June 18, 2022 the URL will remain as www.Lapware.org and this data will come from the www.LapwareNew.org url you have been recently using since November 1, 2021.

The five books are renamed in this order, incompliance with the way the NMC has done it:

Book 1 - RR  numbered 10001 to 11014

Book 2 - DG  numbered 20001 to 24913

Book 3 - SA   numbered 30001 to 32729

Book 4 - NG   numbered 40001 to 42008

Book 5 - NP   numbered 50001 to 52907

The first number represents the book number and the last four digits are the sequential count of questions in the book. As new questions are discovered they will be added to the end of the number count after being properly categorized. Plenty of modified questions exist and they are being added with a means for you to locate them. More about that in the future.

Upon receipt of your LAPWARE purchase invoice you will be sent shortly a request to send to Richard Plant (rm.plantmd@gmail.com) a copy of your NMC Approval Letter. We cannot use the HOME PORT version of this letter. It must be the NMC Approval Letter that lists your Credential you are sitting for with the full list of Test Modules (Q-###) that you will be taking. I must inform you that I have discovered and reported, with mariner's permission, the errors found so that they could be corrercted.

Improvements in added features, corrected illustrations, updated reference material (non-copyrighted material), improved solutions, and more yet to come. A new Operational Level chart plot has been posted by NMC on their website and will be added to LAPWARE in the near future. I am presently working on solving the Graphical Solution in MS Excel so you can see the reference material, plot solutions and comments about the quality of some of the questions.

This exam first hit the industry in 2021 and was a DISASTER with from 12% to 28% passing. Either the questions were NOT properly reviewed by the Question Review Committee as is required by the LAW - Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2015-2016. I brought this to the School Superintendent's attention and they wrote a letter to NMC asking that a Review Committee for ALL NEW QUESTIONS be held PRIOR TO INCLUSION into the NMC database, which again is required by the LAW. This was done in first a Virtual Meeting in early April 2022 and a Question Review Committee in mid-April. So now the long process of getting the NMC to realize the errors of their ways in the wording of a few of these questions and the depth to which mariners must DIG into the 1983 List List and Coast Pilot to find information is just unacceptable. This will all be noted in my next N-MERPAC report to them, NMC and the USCG HQ.

I was informed that a NEW NMC DECK AND ENGINE GUIDE BOOK would be available some 10 months ago, in about 6 months. The maritime industry is still waiting for its arrival. I assure you I will go through and look for major changes and let all LAPWARE users know.

LAPWARE has been historically the most popularly used program for License Preparation since April 2022 and we thank you for that. We hope this newer program benefits you and many more well into the future. Even though the NMC has been operating behind closed doors since September 2016, the LAPWARE NEWER database of questions will be valid for years to come, especially for Math problems and their SOLUTIONS. Theory questions will develop and we simply ask ALL mariners taking their exams and using LAPWARE to provide VALUABLE feedback to me regarding what they are seeing on their exams. NMC is definitely moving questions around within their database of books, as well as with some of their exams. LAPWARE's Internet based set up is the BEST and QUICKEST way for all to be kept up to date. We make the change on the website and you have them on your computer the next time you login.

Remember, LAPWARE never auto-bills users. It is totally up to you when you wish to purchase your NEXT MONTH's license and are allowed to skip up to, but not exceed, 12 months. After 12 months of inactivity ALL files and access to your license are deleted as per our License Agreement.

PLEASE keep an eye on the INFORMATION page for LAPWARE notices.  Many changes to LAPWARE will be occurring in the near future. We want mariners to fully understand that what we are doing is for the benefit of the industry in preparing them to take there “credential” exams. We specifically do NOT want mariners to just memorize questions and answers. We want them to have the BASIC TRAINING for each subject as taught by a certified maritime school. After that training, then LAPWARE should be used.
