What that means:<\/p>\n<ul>\n  <li>NMC is evaluating applications on a first come, first serve basis using the Application Submission Portal (ASAP).<\/li>\n  <li>The REC will contact mariners with appointments between Feb 17 and April 18 to reschedule their exams.<\/li>\n  <li>Approval to Test Letters that expire between Feb and May 2026 are extended through Aug 2026 \u2014 with no updates showing extensions.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>In-process examinations:<\/strong> If you didn&#8217;t complete all modules, you may restart testing without penalty, but it must be completed within 60 days of the NMC&#8217;s reopening.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Retesting:<\/strong> The 90-day period was paused as of Feb 13th but will restart on reopening.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>National Defense credentialing issues:<\/strong> Employers should reach out to the NMC Customer Service Center.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n<p>You can find the NMC&#8217;s Announcement here:<\/p>\n<ul>  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dco.uscg.mil\/Portals\/9\/NMC\/pdfs\/announcements\/2026\/lapse_in_appropriations_and_government_shutdown_update_3_corrected_042226.pdf?ver=q7-4w34FkvZ4Rjklr55IHg%3d%3d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">USCG NMC Update #3<\/a>\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It appears that the NMC has returned to work despite the ongoing DHS shutdown.
