I am excited to join Lapware after spending my entire career in and supporting the maritime industry. I graduated from the US Naval Academy and was commissioned an Ensign. My education included courses on Celestial, Terrestrial, and Chart Navigation, Rules of the Road, Deck Safety and general Navigation. After completing the Navy’s nuclear power training, I was assigned to the USS HYMAN G RICKOVER (SSN 709) where I qualified as the Engineering Officer of the Watch/Engineering Duty Officer (Submarine Engineering Watch Officer), and Officer of the Deck/Ship’s Duty Officer (Deck Watch Officer) and earned my Submarine Officer Warfare Designation.
Throughout my civilian career, I was responsible for the development, test, and acquisition of submarines and weapons systems. The highpoint of my career include when I was the program manager for unmanned surface vehicles/systems for mine-hunting and sweeping and serving as the director of test for the Navy and Army newest hypersonic weapon system.
As of July 15th, I have relieved Richard as the owner of Lapware-a responsibility built on his year of dedicated service to the maritime industry. I am excited about Lapware; its capabilities and how it will continue to support the industries educational needs. I have seen and heard how Lapware aids the Mariner’s examination preparation and it is my desire to see Lapware continue in its goal: Help Mariners prepare to obtain their USCG/NMC credential to advance their seagoing career.
Safe Sailing,
Brandon Brown
